Pre-configuring SIP/H.323 in Zoom
Admins and account owners can pre-configure for SIP/H.323 via Room Connector, enabling them to configure the default layout of their video and the input DTMF tone for when these devices join their meeting via Room Connector via H.323 or SIP onboard. When users are joined into a Zoom meeting, they will be able to adjust the video layout or add DTMF tones directly from their device keypad once they have logged in.
Prerequisites for pre-configuring SIP/H.323
- There are four types of accounts available: Pro, Business, Education and Enterprise
- This add-on will allow you to connect to conference rooms
- Privileges of the account owner or administrator
How to pre-configure SIP/H.323 for Room Connectors
- You will need to sign in to the Zoom web portal.
- Click on the Room Management link in the navigation menu.
- To connect a H.323/SIP room, click the H.323/SIP Room Connector button.
- You will find the Configuration tab on the left side of the screen.
- Please choose one of the following options:
- On the videos, the name will be displayed as follows:
- Only Display Active User: The speaker’s name will only be displayed if he or she is the active speaker.
- Display All: On the screen, you will be able to see the names of all users.
- Hide All: All user names will be hidden on the screen if they are hidden.
- Display Settings:
- Gallery: As a default layout, select the video gallery layout from the drop-down menu.
- Full screen: If you would like the video to be viewed in full screen mode, select it.
- Active: You can choose to show the active speaker in a video by selecting the video.
- Webinars
- Join Webinar as:
- Panelist: As a presenter, you can take part in a meeting.
- Attendee: If you are not able to attend a meeting, you can still participate as a participant.
- Start Webinar From H.323/SIP Device: It provides the opportunity to hosts to start a webinar using their host key directly from within a practice session.
- Join Webinar as:
- DTMF Command: In order to choose a particular setting after joining the meeting, you can enter a DTMF tone to automatically be sent when you join the meeting. To find out what tones are available for DTMF, please read the following article.
- Approved Devices: Bypasses the waiting room by allowing pre-approved devices to bypass it.

- SIP/H.323 Rooms managed by Zoom Connector: Pre-approved devices will be able to bypass the waiting room if they are managed by the company.
- SIP/H.323 devices by IP address: When a device joins the Waiting Room via the specified IP address, or within the specified range of addresses, it will be pre-approved by the system when it uses the specified IP address.
- SIP/H.323 devices with the specific public certificates: In order to use this feature, a certificate needs to be uploaded that will be used to verify the pre-approval of the device.
- Meeting chat visible on room system displays: Specifies whether the device’s display will display in-meeting chats during a meeting. The default setting for this setting is to enable it.
- Note: It should be noted that even if the in-meeting chat is disabled, participants can still choose to view it from the DTMF menu if they wish.
