A bespoke solution offered by Zoom Video Communications, Inc. will be used by the City of Stockholm for digitalizing its public sector. Zoom X powered by Deutsche Telekom is an intuitive, innovative communications platform that combines some of the best local infrastructure, network security, and services with an intuitive, innovative communication experience. Zoom’s largest system integration partner in the Nordic region, Visualised AB, is responsible for the localization of Zoom for the Swedish market.

There are nearly one million people living in the City of Stockholm, the largest municipality in Sweden. Several legacy collaboration systems will be replaced by Zoom X, which will meet the security and privacy requirements of the city to the fullest. With Zoom X, you will be able to participate in meetings, chat, whiteboarding, webinars, Zoom Rooms, and Zoom Phone from within the EU and you will be able to take advantage of the same services and functionality.

There will be benefits to Stockholm as a result of 

• Public sector workers need to be able to collaborate securely and reliably

• By offering language interpretation, translation, and transcription in video communications to the communities of the deaf or hard of hearing or speech-impaired people in the city, we can better support their needs

• In addition to improving employee happiness, reducing staff turnover, and reducing commute times, we strive to provide a better working environment for public sector employees

A total of 16,000 users will be using Zoom X in Stockholm as part of its initial rollout.

As mentioned earlier, Zoom X replaces a sunsetting product, which was already stopped by the city owing to its inability to have a compliance with local regulations and to have its data protected in accordance with GDPR, also due to the Schrems II decision.  According to the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), Stockholm Stad, Visualised, and Zoom have been working together to assess the legal and technical implications of the proposal as advised by the EDPS.
