Zoom offers a variety of features that will help you to get the most out of your video conferencing experience, and you can choose whether the video is on or off at any given time. You will have the option of hiding or showing yourself on your own screen for each meeting.

It is also important to note that if you are using your video during a meeting with multiple participants, then it automatically displays to all members of that meeting, including yourself. Depending on when you turn on your video, you can control whether other participants will be able to see you. When you hide yourself from the screen, your own display disappears from the screen, which allows you to observe your fellow participants more clearly. When you display yourself to others, a video display that shows how you appear to others appears on your screen.

In addition to the option to turn on or off, hide, or display your video, a variety of ways can also be used to adjust the layout and content of each individual video tile.

Turning your video on / off

The video feed is displayed in Zoom meetings and you can choose to show or stop it. You will be able to see the rest of the participants also if you choose to show your video. When you stop your video, the participants who were watching it through the device’s camera will no longer be able to see you.

Turn your video on

1. From the bottom-left corner of the meeting screen, select the “Start Video” button on the toolbar. Click the button and the meeting will start.
2. In the future, you will notice the red slash disappearing from the camera icon, which means all participants will now be able to see your video.

Turn your video off

1. On the toolbar near the bottom-left corner of the meeting screen, click the “Stop Video” button to stop the video.
2. You will notice that your camera icon will be slashed in red, which means that your video will no longer be seen by other attendees of the meeting.

Hiding Self View on your screen

You can also choose to keep your video on while hiding it from your own display, so that you are no longer seen by yourself. In addition to turning your video on and off, you can also choose to keep your video on.

To hide your video from your own display, you will need to do one of the following:

1. Join a Zoom meeting or start one. Zoom automatically starts the meeting in Speaker View, and you can see your own video there as well.
2. Then you click the ellipses to appear a menu that lets you choose Hide Self View. To do this, hover over the video and click the ellipses button.
   Despite the fact that you can still see others in the meeting seeing your video, you are no longer able to see your own video.

 Restoring Self View on your screen

To restore the video of yourself:

1. In the video window, click the View button, which can be found at the top-right corner.
2. Then click the Show Self View button.
   After clicking the Show Self View button, your video will appear on your screen.
