Adding questions to a Zoom Events survey
If you click the Advanced Options tab when creating a conference, you can add questions to a survey.

Prerequisites for adding questions to a Zoom Events survey
- Zoom desktop client
- Windows: 5.7.6 or higher
- MacOS: 5.7.6 or higher
- Zoom mobile client
- IOS: 5.7.6 or higher
- Android: 5.7.6 or higher
- Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education account
- Stripe or PayPal Business account is required to create paid events
- Zoom Events license
Notes:
- Due to a dependency with Windows’ Webview package for Windows platform, Zoom Events version 5.7.6 does support Zoom Events, but may result in blank lobby environments for hosts.
- It is strongly recommended that hosts update to the most recent version of the Zoom desktop client/mobile application in order to be able to take advantage of the latest Zoom Events and Webinar features.
How to add questions to a Zoom Events survey
- It is important to create an event for the conference.
- Under the Survey section of the Advanced Options tab, click the + Create button to start creating your survey.
- Event Survey:
- It is recommended that you select this option if you want the survey to be displayed after the event has ended.
- Session Survey:
- You will be able to select how often the survey will be shown if you choose this option if you wish to show the survey after a session ends; you will also be able to select the frequency at which it will be shown.
- Select sessions:
- In the drop-down menu, you can choose one or more instances from which you would like the survey to appear in the future.
- All Sessions:
- Each time a session ends, there will be a survey that appears at the end of the session.
Note: - There will also be a drop down menu that allows you to see the names of the sessions you have added to the conference in the field provided.
- Click the X next to the session name in the box under Select sessions to remove the session from the list.
- If you would like to add a question, click on the + button.
- In order to edit a question box, you need to click on it.
- If you would like to select a single choice question format, click the drop-down menu below:
- Multiple Choice
- Single Choice
- Short Answer
- Long Answer
- Rating Scale
- If you have any questions or answers, please type them here.
- You may add another question by clicking + Add Question.
Note: - There is a limit of 10 questions per survey.
- Check the following boxes (optional):
- Required
- Show as DropDown
- Anonymous Answers
- Save the file.
Available question formats
Multiple Choice
If you want to ask the registrants to answer with one or more options, you should use the multiple choice format.
- If you would like to type a question, please click Untitled Question.
- Click on Choice 1 to start typing your first answer. If you need to type a second answer, click Choice 2 to do so
- Click on the +Add Option button and then type the new answer; repeat the process as many times as necessary to add as many options as you need.
Single Choice
You can ask registrants to choose only one answer from a list of options using a single-choice format.
- If you would like to type a question, please click Untitled Question.
- If you would like to type the first answer, click Choice 1. The second answer can be typed by clicking Choice 2 if necessary.
- (Optional) Click on the + Add Option button and fill in the new answer. Repeat this step until you have added all the options you require.
Short Answer
If registrants provide a written answer of up to 500 characters, use the short-answer format.
- Min Character:
- The answer must contain at least the following number of characters.
- Max Character:
- The answer can contain up to a maximum of characters.
Long Answer
Provide registrants with 1-2000 characters for their written answers using the long-answer format.
- Min Character:
- The answer must contain at least the following number of characters.
- Max Character:
- The answer can contain up to a maximum of characters.
Rating Scale
Note:
Under the Tickets tab, you do not have the option to create a survey using the rating scale format.
To ask registrants to provide a rating based on a range of numbers between a 1 and 10, use the rating-scale format.
- Score from:
- If you would like to select a starting number for the range, click the arrows.
- To:
- If you wish to end the range of numbers on a particular number, click on the arrows to select it.
- Low Score Label:
- Please type the value that represents the lowest value.
- High Score Label:
- If you would like to enter the highest value, please do so.
Additional customization options
You have the option of customizing each question format further by choosing from the following options:
- Anonymous answers: If you wish to make the data of those taking the survey anonymous, then select the box to the right if you wish to do so.
Note: There is only one way to choose this option, and it can only be selected under the Advanced Options tab when creating a survey. - Required: In order to proceed with the process, it is important to check whether the question needs to be answered.
- Show as DropDown: There may be a dropdown menu available that allows you to select options from.
- Deleting an option: The option you want to delete can be deleted by clicking on the trash can icon that appears to the right of it.
- Deleting a question: The bottom-right corner of the question appears with a trash can icon, which you need to click in order to delete it.
- Duplicating a question: You can duplicate a question by clicking the more icon… atop the question that you want to duplicate and then selecting Duplicate in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Rearranging the order of the questions: If you have more than two questions, you can drag your mouse to rearrange them in the order that you want them to appear by clicking on the 6 dots at the top of the question box and dragging it from top to bottom.
Even after one ticket has been sold, event creators have the option of adding or deleting custom registration questions.
