New chat messages can be notified to you at a time that is convenient for you. When you are in a meeting, you can choose to set the do not disturb hours and you can choose not to receive notifications during that time. The option to mute a particular group chat or channel also allows you to not receive chat notifications for that group chat or channel in the future.

Prerequisites

• For Windows or macOS, you will need Zoom desktop client version 5.2.0 or higher

Changing chat notification settings for all chats

1. Log in to the Zoom desktop client on your computer.
2. To change the settings, click on the Settings button.
   
3. Select the Chat tab on the left side of the screen.
   The chat notification settings will appear on the left side of the screen.

Changing chat notification settings for a channel or group chat

1. Log into your Zoom client and sign in.
2. Click on the Chat tab to open the chat window.
3. In order to access the channel or group chat name, click the downward arrow next to it.
   In addition, you can click on the information icon beside the name of a channel or group chat if you want more information.
4. On the Notifications page, click the Notifications button.
   In the channel or chat group settings, you will be able to make the following changes:

• Show unread message badge: Next to the name of the channel or chat group, you will see the number of unread messages.
• Push Notifications: Select whether you would like to receive push notifications for the following:
• • All messages: All messages in this group will be pushed to your phone as soon as they are posted.
  • Only direct messages, mentions: When you are tagged using an @all mention or a chat mention, you will receive a push notification if you are tagged using one of those.
  • Nothing: No push notifications will be sent to you.
• Mute Channel / Mute Chat: You should remove all push notifications in addition to the red icons that are next to the channel or group chat names in your dock/taskbar, the Chat tab, and Zoom app.
