Zoom room operation time
If you do not want to run ZoomRooms, such as after hours, you can save energy by dimming your iPad controller or powering off CEC-enabled TVs in the Zoom rooms.
If the TV does not support CEC, ZoomRooms will display a black screen. Specify the schedules of devices in the Zoom room so that they shut off or dim when ZoomRooms are not in use.

Prerequisites
- Turn off the TV:
- HDMI-CEC compatible TV
- A single HDMI display with HDMI output requires a Pulse-8 USB-CEC adapter.
- Dual or triple HDMI displays with Thunderbolt adapters require Pulse-8 USB-CEC adapter and Lindy HDMI CEC Less adapter.
Set the operation time of the TV and iPad controller
For Single Zoom Room:
- Log in to Zoom as a Zoom room manager.
- Click the ZoomRooms tab and then click the Edit button next to the Zoomroom you want to manage .
- Enter the earliest start time and the latest end time when the room will be used.
- Select the day of the week to use the room.
- You can choose to turn off the TV or dim the screen of the iPad controller during times / days when the room is not in use.
- Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page .
For multiple Zoom rooms:
- Log in to Zoom as an administrator of the floor, building, or other part of the hierarchy to which you have access.
- Click the ZoomRooms tab and then the Edit link next to the part of the hierarchy you want to change. For example, if you are an administrator of Building A in the example.com organization, click the Edit link next to Building A.
- [Location edit (in this example [building Edit page)] page, the [ device operating time scroll down to the section, [ On / Off Switch] the switch to the position of [Yes].
- Enter the earliest start time and the latest end time for any room in the location to be used.
- Choose which room to use.
- Choose which device to turn off or dim during hours / days when the room is not in use. You can select TV, iPad controller, or both.
- Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page .
TV set with HDMI-CEC support
If you are using a TV with CEC and want to automatically turn it off to save energy, follow these steps:
For Single Zoom Room:
- Connect the short HDMI cable from Pulse-8 adapter to Mac HDMI and TV HDMI.
- Connect Pulse-8 adapter and Mac USB with short USB cable.
For multiple Zoom rooms:
- Connect the Thunderbolt adapter to the Thunderbolt port on your Mac.
- Connect the HDMI of the TB adapter to the short HDMI cable and the Lindy adapter.
- Connect Lindy adapter to Pulse-8 adapter and HDMI cable to TV HDMI.
- Connect a short USB cable from the Pulse-8 adapter to your Mac’s USB.
For multiple screens using DA :
- Connect the Thunderbolt adapter to the Thunderbolt port on your Mac.
- Connect the TB adapter to the DA.
- Connect a short HDMI cable from the DA to the Lindy adapter.
- Next, connect the Lindy adapter to the Pulse 8 adapter, and the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI.Note : You can use HDMI CEC over CAT Extender to extend the last leg of the HDMI cable.
- Connect the Pulse 8 adapter to your Mac USB with a short USB cable.
Note : For additional USB ports, use Anker USB hub Anker USB hub .
