Connecting more rooms to more meetings with new partners like Google Meet
It is essential to be able to work in a flexible environment, with a variety of external partners and customers, in order to implement these new methods of working. As a result of the recent collaboration between our company and Google, we are happy to announce that you will be able to meet more easily with these key stakeholders from the workspace.
Designed with the goal of enabling Zoom Rooms to make calls into Google Meet meetings, as well as Google Meet hardware devices to make calls into Zoom Meetings, Zoom Interop for Google Meet enables business users to make calls without the need for any additional hardware or subscriptions. This technology is designed without Zoom customers needing any additional hardware or subscriptions. There will only be a few settings that will need to be configured and enabled by an admin in order to enable this interoperability solution and the service will be available from today onwards.
As video interoperability among industry-leading providers of video conferencing equipment and systems becomes widespread, we will all be able to benefit from it in so many ways, especially now that more people are using video conferencing rooms and equipment in the office. By using a different provider, we are able to build better connections with our customers or partners.
A Zoom Rooms user with Zoom Interop can easily connect to a Google Meet meeting with Zoom Interop for Google Meet. With just a few clicks of a button, you can instantly join the Google Meet meeting when you forward the Google Meet invite to a Zoom Room.

Easily join a Zoom or Google Meet meeting from a room
Here’s more about how it works:
Consider yourself in the position of Company A, and you exclusively use Zoom Meetings and Zoom Rooms as a way to communicate with your employees, but you also interact weekly with Company B that uses Google Meet as a way to communicate with their employees via video communications. An invitation to Google Meet is received by Company A. Following the invitation, a Zoom Rooms Calendar invite is created for Company A so that it can opt in to attend the meeting as soon as it receives it.
If the meeting invitation is for Google Meet, Zoom Room will recognize this and show the entry in the Google Calendar along with a One Touch Join button, so that everyone can join the meeting straight away. There is a Google Meet button on the Zoom Room controller, so when the time comes for the meeting to begin, Company A users can walk into the Zoom Room, touch the Google Meet button, and they will be able to join the Google Meet meeting from the Zoom Room.
There is also a manual option to enter the meeting ID in order to join the meeting, which removes the necessity and cost of forwarding calendar invitations from external hosts to users.
In a conference room, the same thing can be done with a Zoom Meeting and users on the Google Meet service using the Zoom app. The Zoom Meeting invite can now be forwarded by Google users to the Google Meeting Room’s calendar, entered when the meeting is ready, and joined with a single touch on the Google Meet touch controller once the Zoom Meeting has started.
There are several core features of video conferencing that can be leveraged once users are within a Zoom or Google Meet meeting. This includes features such as high-quality video and audio, as well as easy controls to muffle audio or video. While the interop solution will support most of the native Zoom Rooms or Google Meet rooms features, it will not support all of them.
It is important to realize that waiting room bypass can be configured in order to facilitate the joining of meetings hosted on multiple platforms. For example, if Company A hosts a meeting on both Google Meet and Zoom Meeting, then the Zoom Meeting can join the Google Meet meeting as authenticated room system and bypass the waiting room. In addition, the same applies to Zoom Meetings hosted by Company B that are joined by Google Meet hardware belonging to Company B.
Additional interop features recently released
As part of our efforts to create more interoperability features this quarter, we have been extremely busy.
We introduced the ability to join Microsoft Teams meetings directly from Zoom Rooms 5.13’s Control Panel or Zoom Rooms for Touch device, so there is no friction when a team invitation hasn’t been added to the Zoom Rooms calendar yet. This feature reduces friction when the Teams calendar invitation hasn’t been added to the Zoom Rooms calendar.
A great modification we have made to Controller is the introduction of dedicated shortcuts for popular meeting platforms, such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco meetings, right on the homescreen of the Controller. Users will find it easier and quicker to enter the information for the meeting and join the meeting as a result of this feature.
In order to open up basic SIP interoperability for all Zoom Meetings subscribers by the end of Q1, we plan to make it available by the end of the quarter. Consequently, if your organization decides to host a Zoom meeting for external guests who are connecting using their SIP-based video-conferencing system, those external guests will be able to participate in the meeting using the information that is included in the invitation to the meeting and will be able to participate in the Zoom meeting just the same as internal guests. A Zoom Conference Room Connector (CRC) is a plug-in that will provide all the features and functionality of Zoom conferencing to Zoom customers who have their own standards-based video conferencing systems.
Better connectivity together
With Zoom Rooms for Windows, Mac, and most appliances,”>Appliances, Zoom Interop for Google Meet is now available to connect to Google Meet using Zoom Rooms. The Zoom and Google teams are looking forward to continuing to work together in order to add new features and improve the interoperability experience. Take advantage of Zoom Rooms to better enable the hybrid workforce and make it easier for them to collaborate.
