New Zoom Mail and Calendar give workers a ‘toggle tax’ break
The new Zoom Mail and Calendar products connect crucial work communications and tools in the Zoom app.
It is with great pleasure that we announce at Zoomtopia today the next step in the evolution of our platform, a beta release of two new tools for enhancing productivity: Zoom Mail client and Zoom Mail and Calendar server.
With the addition of these products, the Zoom Meetings, Phone, Whiteboard, and Team Chat services will provide users with even more ways to communicate and collaborate with one another. In addition, Zoom allows teams to move seamlessly from emails to video meetings, convert chat messages into phone calls, collaborate on projects, and also share their whiteboards even without having to leave the app, all without ever leaving the Zoom interface.
In the Zoom Mail and Calendar Clients (beta), Zoom users – whether they are free or paid – will be able to access their existing third-party email accounts from within the Zoom desktop app directly from their existing email accounts. The Harvard Business Review recently published an interesting study in which it revealed that employees spend nearly four hours each week reorienting themselves after switching between apps as a result of switching between platforms. In order to reduce this “toggle tax,” Zoom enables users to have access to their email while simultaneously using other modalities, so that they can concentrate on their work rather than switching between them. Employees are now able to start and join meetings from the Zoom sidebar right from their existing calendar by using Zoom Calendar, which can easily be accessed from the Zoom window.
There was also a new Zoom Mail Service (beta) as well as a new Zoom Calendar Service (beta), as well as the ZoomMail and ZoomCalendar Clients. Zoom One Pro and Zoom Standard Pro customers in the US and Canada will also have the ability to set up a Zoom-hosted email account for no additional charge, through the new Zoom Mail Service, as part of their Zoom One Pro or Zoom Standard Pro plans. If you choose a Zoom One Business plan or higher, you will even be able to create your own domain if you are on a Zoom One Business or higher plan.
As a solution aimed at small and medium businesses with limited IT resources, Zoom Mail Service is specifically designed for these businesses who require enhanced privacy when it comes to their business communications. Examples of such businesses include law firms, engineering firms and any other business that needs to share private information among members of its team. End-to-end encryption (E2EE) (E2EE) is offered by Zoom Mail Service for emails sent directly between active Zoom Mail Service users as well as expiring emails that have access-restricted links for external recipients that are sent directly between active Zoom Mail Service users.
