How to hold participant in zoom meeting (Participant Hold)

When putting a participant on hold (when putting a participant on hold)

You can stop the delivery of video and audio to participants or participants.

This will allow a pending participant to temporarily block the viewing of other participants and allow others to continue the meeting.

General use case

There is an interviewer who discusses the candidate, a dissertation committee who discusses the doctoral candidate, or an intermediary session. 

Prerequisites

  • Account owner or admin rights if turned on for all users

Activate Pending Participant

Set in account

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with permission to edit account settings, Account Settings ] and then click.
  2. 2. On the Meetings tab, go to the Host can put participants on holdoption and verify that the setting is enabled. 
    If the setting is invalid, click the status toggle to enable it. When the confirmation dialog is displayed , select [On] to confirm the change.
  1. 3. (Optional) If you want this setting to be mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon and click Lock to check the setting.

Settings in a specific group

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an administrator with permission to edit user groups, Group Management ] and click.
  2. Click the group name and then click the Settings tab.
  3. Go to the Host can put participants on hold option on the Meetingstab and make sure that the setting is enabled. 

    If the setting is invalid, click the status toggle to enable it. When the confirmation dialog is displayed , select [On] to confirm the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out it is
locked at the account level and needs to be changed at that level.
  1.  (Optional) If you want this setting to be mandatory for all users in this group, click the lock icon and click Lock to check the setting.

Participant settings

  1. Zoom to sign in to the web portal, setting of My Meetings ] and click.
  2. Go to the Host can put participants on hold option on the Meetingstab and make sure that the setting is enabled. 

    If the setting is invalid, click the status toggle to enable it. When the confirmation dialog is displayed , select [On] to confirm the change.
Note: If the option is grayed out, it is

locked at the group or account level.
You need to contact your Zoom administrator.

Use Participant Hold in a Meeting

Enabling the setting allows participants to be put on hold during the meeting.

  1. Click Manage Participant in Host Management .

Place the cursor on the participant name that you want to put on hold, click [Details], and put it on [On Hold] .

Here, the Participant List shows that this participant is pending. 
The participant’s screen will be displayed that will be approved by the meeting host shortly.

When you are ready to return to the meeting, click Release Hold in the Participant List .
