Save a chat during a meeting in Zoom App

In-meeting chats can be saved automatically or manually on your computer or Zoom Cloud.

You must be a pro license or higher user to save to the cloud.

Manually save chat (local)

  1. During a meeting, click Chat . 

Click Details at the bottom of the chat window and click Save Chat

This saves the chat in a local recording location.

Default destination

document folder> Zoom > Meeting name and date and time folder

Turn on chat auto save setting

  1. Go to profile settings .
  2. On the right of [With a meeting (Basic)], select [ Save chat automatically ].

Save chat to Zoom cloud

If you are using a paid account with cloud recording enabled, you can choose to save in-meeting chats to the Zoom cloud when recording in the cloud.  

  1. Go to profile settings .
  2. Open the Recording tab.
  3. Meeting / save the chat message from the webinar] Check the options. 



    In a meeting, you need to start cloud recording to save chats, or start cloud recording automatically.
    To automatically start cloud recording , check [Auto Record Meeting] in

    the
    meeting optionswhen scheduling ameeting.

Access the in-meeting chat stored in the cloud

  1. You can access meeting records in one of the following ways:
  • You will receive an email when your cloud record is ready. 
    Click the link in the email to download or view the recording .

  • After the recording process , move to My Recording ] . Click a topic. 
    All files in the meeting will be displayed. You can download, share, or delete TXT files called in-meeting chats.

Show recording path or change default

  1. Open the Zoom client on your computer and log in.
  2. Click Set .



  3. Select [ Recording ].
  4. The selected recording path is displayed. You can click Change to select a new file location. 
  1. Note: We do not recommend using a network or cloud drive. This causes file corruption if the connection is interrupted.
