How to start Zoom app using Chrome

The Chrome OS Zoom application allows users to start or join meetings from the Chromebook. After joining the meeting, you can:

    • Join with audio and video Invite Others to Zoom Meeting


To install

The Chrome OS Zoom application can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store.


Attend a meeting

  1. Join or start a meeting from the Chrome web browser or select the launcher.
  2. Open the Zoom application. The application can be displayed directly or can be found from All Apps.
  3. Once selected, you can join or start the meeting.
  4. Once joined or started, you can join the Zoom meeting to join audio and video, invite others
    , share content, manage / view participants, and use in-meeting chat.

Clicking the above link will take you to the Google Play store where you can download Zoom for Chrome PWA for Chrome OS of your computer. The Zoom for Chrome PWA can be downloaded from the Google Play store if you want to use it in Chrome OS. You should search for ‘Zoom PWA’ there.

In the taskbar, you will find an icon for Windows. Click this icon to open it. You will need to scroll down the list of apps until you are able to find the Zoom folder in your apps list. You will be directed to the Zoom folder once you have clicked on it. You can launch the application by double clicking on the Start Zoom button.
In Zoom, you can easily join meetings or webinars through your web browser without having to download any plugins or software, since the Zoom web client can be used to join meetings or webinars. If Zoom meetings are available through the webclient, it is possible to join them without having to download the Zoom application yourself. By using the web browser to join Zoom meetings allows users with limited access to what they can install or download to use Zoom meetings without downloading the Zoom application themselves.
The zoom level in Chrome is set to 100% by default. If you want to increase or decrease the page magnification manually, then you can use the Ctrl key and “+” or “-” combos to change the settings. Holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard will allow you to zoom in or out using your mouse wheel if you are using a mouse.
If you choose Zoom, you will not be able to avoid either option entirely. The website is the preferred method of signing up and signing in to Zoom if you do not want to use the app. The Zoom website homepage should allow you to click on the Meetings section at the top of the screen, where you are able to choose whether to “Host a Meeting” or “Join a Meeting.” As you can see, you have the option of scheduling a Meeting or joining one.
