How to convert meetings and webinars in Zoom App
Contents
Overview
Meeting and webinar platforms offer many similarities in terms of functionality and features, but they also differ in some important aspects. As a collaborative event where all participants can see, hear and discuss with one another, meetings are designed to be a collaborative event. However, webinars tend to be more economical, only allowing the host and designated panelists to share and view-only attendees to watch. Here you will find a comparison between the features of a meeting and a webinar.
The Zoom web portal allows you to convert a meeting or webinar you have scheduled as a meeting or webinar into the appropriate event type via the Zoom web portal.
Prerequisites
- A Webinar add-on must be assigned to the Host user type, and the Host user type must be Licensed
- An automatically generated meeting ID must be used when a meeting is scheduled; no PMI meetings can be scheduled
Converting a meeting into a webinar
We will be converting our meetings to webinars following the conversion. The registration URL will remain the same, and our registrants will still be able to join using the same link that they used for the meeting. The meeting settings and participants will also be transferred to the webinar.
- Log into the Zoom web portal by entering your Zoom username and password.
- You will be redirected to the Meetings section of the Zoom web portal.
- In order to convert your meeting into a webinar, you simply need to click on the name of the meeting.
- On the Meetings tab, click on Convert this Meeting to a Webinar. To the right of the Start and Edit buttons.
- By clicking Convert, you agree that you want the meeting to be converted to a webinar.
Converting a webinar into a meeting
A webinar-only feature, such as the Q&A forum, multiple-choice questions, webinar-related email settings, and the post-webinar surveys, can be lost in the process of converting a webinar to a meeting. There will be a change in the URL of the registration page, but the old registration page will redirect to the new page and the existing logo and banner will be presented on the new page. We will convert the panelists who registered to registrants. If there was a webinar registration link, panelists will be converted to registrants as well, and those who already registered can enroll at that link. We are moving the registration and attendee reports from Webinar reports to Meeting reports, and also moving the usage and host reports to Usage and Active Hosts in the CMS (for admins). We will still be able to find the reports for the webinar sessions that have already taken place under Webinar reporting if the webinar is recurring and contains one or more sessions already taken place before the conversion.
- Log in to the Zoom web portal by signing in with your email address and password.
- Go to the Webinars section on the left-hand side of the page.
- You can convert a webinar to a meeting by clicking the name of the webinar.
- If you want to convert this webinar into a meeting, click on the Convert To Meeting button to the right of the Start and Edit buttons.
- Click Convert to make sure that you’d like to make this a meeting instead of a webinar.
