How to Use file sharing integrations in Zoom
As a result of our file sharing integration, you will be able to share files within Zoom that were originally stored in Box, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Microsoft SharePoint. In order to share files easily while chatting and during meetings, you will need to connect your Zoom account.
Note:Dropbox can also be used to share files through the integration. It is important to note however, that Dropbox has different features than other file sharing integrations.

Prerequisites for file sharing integrations
- Zoom’s desktop client is available for download
- For Windows 5.3.0 and later versions
- And Mac OS X versions 5.3.0 or later
- By the Zoom mobile application
- Which runs on Android and Mac OS X versions 5.3.0 or later
- With iOS version 5.4.0 or higher
- An administrator must enable file sharing integration in the app
- For this feature to work, in-meeting file transfer must be enabled by an administrator
Notes:
- As a result, you may be required to change the permissions on the files in the third-party service in order to use these integrations.
- If you wish to change the integration, you can download the file to your computer, then use the local file as an alternative. A file can be shared in a meeting by opening the file and sharing the screen in the meeting. The benefit of these alternatives is that you do not need to change file permissions on the third-party service.
How to enable file sharing integrations
- If you are an administrator with permission to edit integration settings on the Zoom web portal, you should login to it as an administrator.
- Select Advanced, then Integration from the top navigation bar.
- Click on either of the following toggles to enable them:
- Box
- Google Drive
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Microsoft SharePoint
Zoom chat allows you to share a file with a single contact, a chat group made up of multiple chatters, or a channel. Zoom does not directly upload shared files, but rather creates a link for the file that can be shared without having to actually upload the file. If a contact clicks the file, a browser will open and the file can be viewed using the third-party file sharing service that has been provided.
Windows | macOS
- Log in to the Zoom desktop client.
- Click on the Chat tab.
- Select the contact, group-chat, or channel you would like to share the file with.
- Then click on File and then select the file sharing service.
When you click on this service, a webpage will open. - You will need to connect to it.
- You will then need to grant Zoom access to your account by following the instructions on the screen.
Your files will then be displayed on a web page. - You just need to select the file you want to share.
Note: You need to choose the SharePoint site you wish to view before you can view the file directory if you are sharing a SharePoint document. - To do so, select an option from the sharing options in the bottom panel.
- Anyone in your organization: The link can only be accessed by members of your organization in order to view or download the files.
- Notes:
- You’ll need to enter your organization’s domain if you’re sharing a Google Drive file.
- This option is only available if you’re sharing a OneDrive or SharePoint file, and it can only be used for work or school accounts.
- Anyone with the link: A person with the link will be able to view or download the file.
- Click on the Choose button.
Click on the Change Permissions button. This will allow others to access the file. - Once the browser prompts you, click on the option to open Zoom.
Once Zoom posts the link to the shared file, you can begin the process. A link can be posted in the chat for a contact to click on so that they can open a browser and access the file through the third-party file sharing service.
Note: Sharing a file with a third-party file sharing service changes the file permissions within that third party service. Sign in to your third-party file sharing account if you wish to revert the permissions on a file on which you no longer wish to share.
