Adding phone dial-in contacts
Account owners and administrators can create a dial-in contact list of phone numbers that are able to dial into Zoom meetings and have their name listed along with their phone number in the participant’s list. These numbers appear as a guest participant in the meeting:
You can add a contact by manually entering the name and number and you can also import a CSV file with several names and numbers.
Note:Â Zoom needs to enable this feature on your account before you can use it.
Prerequisites
- An account owner or administrator should have the following privileges:
- For participants to be able to join by phone, the host of the meeting needs to provide dial-in numbers
Adding a phone dial-in contact
In order to create one dial-in contact, you need to follow these steps.
- The first thing you need to do is log into Zoom’s web portal.
- Click Account Management in the navigation panel and then select Phone Dial-in Contacts from the drop-down menu.
- A new contact will appear on the screen.
- Please fill out the information below:
- Display Name: The name of the person whose name will be displayed to other participants in the meeting.
- A phone number consists of the following components: the contact’s name, phone number, and mobile phone number. Neither a plus sign (+) nor a dash (-) should be inserted. You can, for example, enter 14081231234 in order to specify the number +1 (408) 123-1234.
- Country code
- Area code
- Phone number
- (Optional) If you want to add more contacts, click Add Another and repeat step 4 until all contacts have been added.
- Then click Save.
Editing an existing phone dial-in contact
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal using your email address and password.
- Please click on Account Management from the navigation panel, then choose Phone Dial-in Contacts from the drop-down menu.
- Once you have selected the contact you would like to edit, please click Edit.
- Here is a list of fields that need to be edited:
- Display Name: This is what other meeting participants see when you display the contact’s name.
- There are two components that are part of the contact’s phone number: The contact’s name and the phone number. The plus sign (+) or the minus sign (-) must not be inserted. You can enter 14081231234 for example in order to specify the number +1 (408) 123-1234.
- Country code
- Area code
- Phone number
- Then click on Save.
Importing phone dial-in contacts using a CSV file
- The following data should be entered into a CSV file:
- Column 1Â (display name): This is the name of the contact that is displayed to other participants during a meeting.
- Column 2Â (phone number): Included in this field is a phone number that is composed of the following elements. The plus sign (+) and the minus sign (-) should not be inserted. Using the example above, you can enter 14081231234 to specify the number +1 (408) 123-1234.

- Note:
- In case you want to assign more than one number to a contact, you are able to duplicate the contact’s display name. It is, however, not possible to duplicate the number. Phone numbers can only be associated with a single contact.
- If you don’t want to enter column headings, you don’t have to.
- It is recommended that you save the file as a CSV (comma separated value) file.
- The display name field should not be divided by commas. The CSV file will not be recognized if it has commas in it.
- You need to log into your Zoom account.
- Select Account Management from the navigation panel and then choose Phone Dial-in Contacts from the drop-down menu.
- After that, you will be prompted to import the contacts.
- Make sure both items are selected, click Upload, and then double-click the CSV file that you created.
Note: If you would like to view the imported contacts after sending the import, you may have to reload the page.
Updating phone numbers for existing phone dial-in contacts using a CSV file
The phone numbers associated with dial-in contacts can be updated at any time.
Note:
It is not possible to modify the name of someone dialing into the system using a CSV file. An existing contact has to be manually edited in order to change the name of that contact.
- Log in to the Zoom web portal by entering your username and password.
- Click Account Management in the navigation panel and then select Phone Dial-in Contacts from the list of options.
- For an export of current dial-in phone numbers as a CSV file, click Export to CSV file.
- You will need spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel to open the CSV file.
- To change the phone number associated with each contact in the second column, edit the second column, then save.
Note: The first column (contact name) should not be edited. In case you edit this column, you will encounter an error uploading the CSV file. - Click on the Import button and then select Update the numbers with new values in the CSV file on the Phone Dial-in Contacts page.
- You will then have to download and upload the edited CSV file.
Note: After the import has been completed, you may have to reload the page in order to see the updated contact information.
