How to access the phone’s web interface
Note: This section contains screenshots taken from a VVX phone, but the instructions could also be applied to a SoundPoint or SoundStation phone if you follow the instructions carefully.
- Press the Home button on your phone, and then select the Settings option from the menu that appears.
- Click on the Status tab, then click on the Network tab.
- You will find the IP address next to IPv4 Addr on the tab TCP/IP Parameters, which you should note down.
- Open a web browser on a computer or other device connected to the same network as the phone so that you can access the web page.
- Enterย https://ย followed by the phone’sย IP address.
Note: Click the option to continue if you are presented with a security warning by your browser. - Log on to the web interface as an administrator in order to access the web interface.
Note: Admin passwords are usually set to 456 or 789 by default. I would recommend contacting the vendor of the phone if you do not remember your username or password. The Zoom web portal will show you the password that was set as the admin password if you have set it globally or if you have a HaaS device.
How to configure the provisioning server
- Select Provisioning Server from the Settings drop-down menu that appears when you click on the Settings button.
- Here are the settings you need to change:
- Server Type:ย HTTPS
- Server Address: The URL that will be used to assist provisioning needs to be entered in the Server Address field.
- Server User: Leave the field blank and delete the default value that has been set.
- Server password:Leave the field blank and remove the default value from the field.
- Change the Boot Server under the DHCP Menu to the Static option under the DHCP Menu.
- To complete the configuration, click the Save button at the bottom of the page. As soon as your phone has been rebooted, you will be notified.
Note: Those codecs listed below are recommended and should be available in the In use column after provisioning, by default. In the left-hand panel, click Codec Priorities in order to check what codecs are currently being used. -
- Opus
- G.722
- G.711Mu
- G.711A
Note: Before you complete provisioning on your device, you should ensure that there is no other provisioning server that is communicating with it.
Tip: In order to perform common actions more quickly, you can use the following shortcuts. To dial the numbers, you will need to press the number on your phone’s dial pad and hold it for about three seconds:
- View phone details: 1-4-7
- Reboot the phone: 1-0-3
- Change the base profile: 1-4-9
How to provision the SoundStation IP 6000
Even if the Polycom IP 6000 is not an end-of-sale model (manufactured after January 2010), there is a possibility that it may not be able to provision. This is because these models are using an out-of-date updater (Boot Loader) version that does not support TLSv1.2. Because Zoom Phone enforces TLSv1.2 with all incoming provisioning requests, provisioning on these models fails as a result.
If the device has been rebooted or initiated for the first time, the device will automatically attempt to upgrade the updater after the reboot. Due to the outdated firmware version, Polycom does not provide an updater directory for this device, causing a reboot loop and an inability to provision the device.
Here are the steps you can follow in order to upgrade your IP 6000 by using a custom server address:
- The user will be guided through the process of accessing the device’s web interface by following the instructions.
- The Updater Version can be found on the home page. Ensure that it is less than 5.0.14 in order to avoid any problems.
- Please click the Utilities drop-down menu and then choose Software Upgrade if the Updater Version is less than 5.0.14.
- The following changes need to be made:
- Server Type: Selectย Custom Server.
- Custom server address: Copy and paste this URL,
http://s3.amazonaws.com/hybridupdate.zoom.us/pbx/soundstation6000/all.xml
- Check for updates by clicking the Check for Updates button.
- Choose 4.0.14.1580G from the drop-down menu under Software available at the custom server.
- Click on the Install button to begin the installation process.
There will be a delay of 5-7 minutes during the update process. In some cases, the IP 6000 may have to reboot more than once.
Note:
As soon as you have completed these steps, be sure to complete the assisted provisioning steps described in this article.ย Once the web interface has been provisioned, confirm that the following information is displayed on the home page of the web interface:
- Updater Version: 5.0.14
- UC Software Version: 4.0.14.1580G
The steps above may not work if you follow them in the order listed below:
- The phone should be powered off and on again.
- During the booting process, you need to press Cancel in order to cancel it.
- Press and hold the following keys on the dial pad during the countdown: 6, 8, *.
- Enter the password for the admin account. Enter the MAC address of the phone if you do not know the admin password for the phone. A label on the bottom of the phone should display the MAC address of the device.
Note: - It is recommended that you use the default admin password, which is either 456 or 789. Please contact the vendor of your phone if you still have problems signing in. It is possible to view the admin password on the Zoom web portal if the admin password has been set globally, or if you have a HaaS device.
- Click on the OK button to confirm your action.
As soon as the phone has been rebooted, it will be reset to factory settings. It may take several minutes for this process to be completed. - To provision the phone, you will need to follow the steps outlined above.
- On the home screen of your phone, make sure that the date and time are displayed correctly.
- Navigate toย Settingsย >ย Statusย >ย Networkย >ย TCP/IP Parameters. Make sure the DNS server is set toย 8.8.8.8ย andย 8.8.4.4.
- Navigate toย Settingsย >ย Advancedย >ย Administration Settingsย >ย TLS Securityย >ย TLS Applications. Make sure theย TLS Protocolย for all applications is set toย TLS 1.2.
