Alternate host setting in Zoom App
What is the alternative host option?
It is a role that enables you to start another meeting or webinar on behalf of the host by specifying another professional user in the same account after the meeting schedule.
Users receive an email notifying them that they have been added as alternate hosts.
This email contains a link to start the meeting.
You can also give other professional users scheduling agent rights . The designated users will be alternate hosts for all meetings and webinars, and will be able to schedule meetings on behalf of the host. If both users have a webinar license, you can also schedule a webinar.
To set up an alternate host
- PC version 1.8826.0925 or later is the Zoom desktop client; Mac version 4.1.8826.0925 or later is the Zoom desktop client
- Android version 1.8860.0925 or later is the Zoom mobile app, iOS version 4.1.8855.09254.1.8855.0925 or later is the Zoom mobile app
- Both host and alternate host users need a prolicense within the same account
- For webinars, the user who schedules the meeting needs both professional and webinar licenses, but the alternate host only needs a professional license.
- The alternate host must log in to Zoom with the correct account to gain host or joint host privileges.
Alternative host setting method
Windows / Mac
- Open the Zoom client and sign in.
- Click the Schedule icon.
- The Scheduler window opens.
- Click on Advanced Options .
- Enter an alternate username in the Alternate Host field and search for a user.
If the name does not appear, you can also enter an alternate host email address. - When finished by clicking the Schedule button, the selected calendar will open.

- [ My Meetings sign in to the Zoom web portal, and then select to schedule a new meeting.
- Click “Advanced Options”.
- Enter the email address of the alternate host in the Alternate Host field.
- Click Save to finish.
- Here, the alternate host receives an email notifying that it has been added as an alternate host.

How to specify an alternative host
- Tap Schedule.
Select Advanced Options.
Tap Alternate Host.
- Tap the user you want to add as an alternate host from the list or enter an email address.
- Tap OK.
- Tap Finish to complete the schedule creation.
- Here, the alternate host receives an email notifying that it has been added as an alternate host.

- Click the Schedule Meeting button.
In the Create Schedule option, enter the email address of the alternate host in the Alternate Host field.
- Click Continue after selecting other options.
- Add a meeting invitee, and save or send the invitation.
