How to Access VDI statistics in Zoom App

If you have the VDI Client installed, you can access Meeting and Telephone statistics while in a meeting, as well as VDI statistics through the VDI tab. Starting with release 5.10.0, when a remote connection is detected, the VDI tab will appear automatically.

Various diagnostic information can be displayed in VDI statistics, such as hardware or performance data, the status of your VDI connection, proxy settings of the device in question, and encryption level of the ICA channel. In addition to this, VDI statistics can also be used to determine whether or not there is a network problem on your end.

Prerequisites to access VDI statistics

  • A desktop version of Zoom is also available
    • as of Windows version 5.8.6 or later
    • as of macOS version 5.8.6 or later
  • In organizations that use Citrix XenDesktop, VMware Horizon, or Windows Remote Desktop, published desktops, there may be two options –
  • It is a good idea to use Citrix Workspace, VMWare Horizons, the VDI client for Windows, or AVD client for VDI
Note: This does not work with Citrix Workspace from the Microsoft store

How to access VDI statistics in the Zoom desktop client

A VDI tab will only appear if the remote client has a compatible VDI plugin installed and has detected that a VDI plugin is available.

The VDI tab will not appear if you are using the Zoom meeting client for VDI. Please check your remote client for the VDI plugin to confirm you have it installed properly. In order for the plugin to be compatible, the plugin version must equal or be less than the version of the VDI meeting client. The group policies may also specify the minimum versions of the VDI plugins that must be installed as part of the policy. In case you need assistance, you can contact your local helpdesk.

VDI statistics that are currently available

Note : For recommended specifications, please refer to our system requirements.
  • Thin Client OS version: This displays the version of the thin client OS that is installed.
  • Plugin CPU: This displays the clock speed of the CPU inside the plugin and how many cores it has. In the bar chart below, you can see how Zoom has utilized the plugin’s processor in relation to the overall CPU usage.
  • Plugin Memory: This tells you exactly how much memory your plugin has available. Zoom is using a small amount of memory as compared to the overall amount used, as indicated by the bars below.
  • VDI Plugin Version: Contains the version number of the VDI plugin that is currently being used by you.
  • VDI Plugin Status: Lets the user know the status of their connection with the software.

Display VDI Plugin Status for error conditions

The Statistics tab of the VDI client displays when a remote connection (Citrix, VMware, or WVD) is detected and an optimization attempt is made. VDI client will run in the same mode as a regular client if the VDI client is unable to detect a remote connection. If the client falls back to fallback mode, the VDI tab shows the state of the connection attempt as well as the current optimization state of the client, even when a connection attempt fails. In this way, users are able to review additional information about the plugin’s state as part of their VDI experience.

VDI Connection Error Status

There is a line beneath the VDI Plugin Status line that displays potential VDI connection errors. When a connection error occurs, it is shown below the VDI connection error line.

VDI Connection Error Status values

VDI Connection Error displays two status lines that can be inspected to identify four different status conditions :

  • Indicating that no errors have been detected by putting a dash in front of the error number
  • indicates that the plugin is missing
  • one of the required plugin versions
  • versions required which is greater than the client’s plugin version

Dash indication

If there are no errors found in the Connection Error status for VDI, then it will display a dash, similarly to other instances of UI where a dash is displayed. The dashed line appears when there is a Connected indicator in the VDI Plugin Status.

No plugin detected

In the case of a connection that does not receive a response from the VDI plugin, the VDI Connection Error will display the line Plugin Missing, which means that the VDI plugin is not responding.

Plugin is less than minimum version

The VDI Connection Error will display Plugin version less than Required if the connection attempt for the VDI plugin succeeds but the version of the VDI plugin registered as the minimum version does not match the minimum version configured (currently, Registry MinPluginVersion).

Plugin is greater than client version

VDI Connection Error will display the “Plugin version greater than client version Plugin version greater than client version” if the remote connection attempt to the VDI plugin succeeds, but the plugin version is greater than the VDI client version.

  • Here are some examples of how a VDI plugin can be greater than the client version:
Please note that the plugin _ Client.jpg has a width of 796 and a height of 658!

VDI plugin version changes

It is important to note that even if the VDI plugin status line is not connected, the value of the VDI plugin version will be displayed. Whenever the VDI plugin version does not display, the only reason why it doesn’t is when it’s not connected. This will result in a dash in the status bar.
