Zoom Application: Introducing how to work with Skype for Business

This article is excerpted from the blog “Zoom application: Skype for Business, how to connect with Microsoft Teams” .

Web conferencing system Zoom works with H.323 compatible video conferencing systems (Polycom, Cisco, Ayaya, Sony, Panasonic) and Slack, a communication tool. It is such a highly versatile Zoom, but it can also work with Skype for Business (SfB), which is a Microsoft product.

This time I will introduce how to work with SfB and how to use it.

SfB linkage condition

Zoom has paid subscriptions for Pro or higher

SfB must be one of the following versions:

  • Lync 2010 Windows client
  • Lync 2013 Windows client
  • Lync 2011 Mac client
  • Skype for Business 2015
  • Skype for Business 2016

Sfb linkage method

  1. Apply for functional activation to Zoom
  2. When activated, SfB connection URL will be displayed in the invitation
  3. Click on the URL to start SfB and join Zoom

By default, SfB can not be connected. It can not be activated by changing settings from the management screen. Therefore, it is necessary to apply for function activation to Zoom. There are two application methods, one that you apply on your own and the other that you apply through the purchaser, but here are the cases where you apply.

1 Click SUBMIT A REQUEST on the Zoom request support page .

Fill in the details and click Submit .

This is complete. You will receive feature-enabled emails as early as the next day and several days at the latest. When the feature is activated, the invitation will display the Skype for Business connection URL.

Click on the URL to launch SfB and join the meeting.

The screen MeetingID@lync.zoom.us will be launched.
※ The part of MeetingID varies according to the meeting. In the above example, 39497806 is the Meeting ID.

As a point of caution , companies using SfB may not allow external connections . Let’s check in advance.
