How to Use Jira Notifications with Zoom

As a result of Zoom’s Jira Notifications integration, you can receive Zoom Chat notifications, messages and updates related to JIRA account changes and updates through the Zoom Chat chatbot.

Prerequisites for using the Jira Notifications integration with Zoom

  • You can sign up for a free or paid Zoom account
  • in order to get access to install and uninstall Jira
  • on the Zoom Marketplace, Jira must be pre-approved by Zoom
    Note: Please contact your Zoom administrator if the app has not yet been pre-approved by Zoom.

How to install the Jira integration from the Zoom Marketplace

Note: The Jira chatbot will be automatically installed for you, if the Jira admin has installed the Jira chatbot within the Jira client.

  1. In order to access your Zoom account from Zoom Marketplace, you need to be an account owner or admin.
  2. Click on the Jira Notifications app after you have searched for it.
  3. It is recommended to contact your Zoom admin if the app has not been pre-approved for your account.
  4. Once you have clicked Add, you will be able to verify the permissions the app needs and choose Allow.
    In order to install this app from the Marketplace, click on the Connect to Jira link from the App Store.
  5. You will need to create a link for your application.
  6. Input the Jira domain of your company and click Connect.
    When the connection is confirmed, you’ll be directed to Jira to connect. As soon as the configuration process is complete, you will be able to configure your own notifications/subscriptions for you and each of your users.

How to configure the Jira Notifications chatbot in Zoom

In order to receive Jira notifications in each channel you want to have them enabled, follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Chat tab in Zoom’s desktop client after logging in.
  2. You can enter the command /jira configure in any desired group chat.
  3. Just click on the button below to begin configuring.
    After clicking on the button, you’ll be taken to the Jira configuration page.
  4. There is the option to select the desired project, the filter, as well as which notifications you would like to receive.
  5. Simply click the Save button.
    Zoom Chat notifications will be sent to you in relation to the project settings you have selected.

How to use the Jira Chatbot

Whenever the Jira subscription is triggered, you will receive a chat notification. The notification will be applied to the Zoom channel that you have configured for the subscription.

If you are interested in interacting with the chatbot 1:1, you can also do that. Just type help to find out the possible commands you can use.

How to uninstall the Jira Chatbot

  1. Admins and owners of accounts can access their accounts from the Zoom Marketplace by signing in to their accounts.
  2. Then click Manage in the top-right corner.
  3. From there, select Added Apps from the menu.
  4. From the list of apps, find Jira Notifications, and click on the Remove button.
  5. Confirbox and select Remove

  • Jira issue info: The project name, the project key, the status, the issue type, the priority, the accountID, and the display name
  • Jira configure info: Links to product application services, system webhooks

The following Zoom permissions are required for this chat app:

  • Send a chat message to a group of users or an instant messenger channel within Zoom.

The communication between Jira and this chat app is encrypted:

  • Protocol: TLS 1.2 enforced
  • Use OAuth1.0 to authorize

An encrypted database is used to store the following information in this chat application:

  • Credentials for Zoom OAuth
  • Jira issue info: Identifier (AccountId), DisplayName, Issue Type, Issue Priority, Status, Project Key, Project Name

When Jira Bot is uninstalled from Marketplace, the following information is deleted:
