Getting started Zoom with Android
The following is a list of the main features of Android that can be found in this article. If you want to join meetings or schedule your own meeting on your Android phone, you can use the Zoom Cloud Meetings app. You can also chat with contacts and view a directory of your contacts.
There may be some features which are not available when it comes to add-ons or license restrictions. For more information about prerequisites and configuration please refer to the feature specific articles.

Prerequisites for using Zoom with Android
- There is an app on Google Play called Zoom Cloud Meetings (which can be found there).
How to sign in and join a meeting with Android
You can join a meeting without registering by clicking Join a Meeting when Zoom has been launched. To start or schedule a meeting, you need to be logged in. Tap Sign In to do so.
Signing in with a Zoom, Google, or Facebook account is the easiest way to do so. However, SSO may also be used to sign in. Please tap Sign Up if you do not yet have an account. Forgot your password? A forgotten password can be retrieved by tapping Forgot Password after you have registered for a Zoom account.
How to use the Meet & Chat features with Android
You can use these meeting features after signing in by tapping Meet & Chat after you have signed in:
- New Meeting :
- Start a meeting immediately by entering your PMI (Primary Meeting ID) or a new meeting ID. Find out how hosts can take control of the meeting during the meeting.
- Join :
- By using the meeting ID, you can join the meeting. This article explains how you can control the meeting while you’re in it.
- Schedule :
- The first step in scheduling a meeting is to choose a schedule.
- Share Screen :
- To share the screen of your device with a Zoom Room, you will need to enter a sharing key or meeting ID.
- Call a Room :
- You can begin a meeting with a H.323 or SIP device by calling it and initiating a session. In order to do this, you need a supported H.323/SIP device’s IP address or URI and an additional add-on for the account.
- Starred:
- Select contacts and channels you want to chat with and start the conversation.
- To start a new conversation, tap the name you want to chat with.
- The list of your contacts and chat channels will expand as you swipe.
The following features are also available to you:
- Zoom Room pairing icon :
- Zoom Room can be operated by using your mobile device from your comfort area instead of through a Zoom Room control panel when using an adjacent Zoom Room.
- Compose icon :
- You can start a new one-on-one conversation with another Zoom Room member.
How to use Zoom Phone with Android
Zoom Phone features are available by tapping Phone.
License required for Zoom Phone.
- You can use the phone keypad to call a number or get in touch with that number.
- History tab:
- From here you can see recorded calls, answered calls, and missed calls.
- Voicemail tab:
- From here you can play or delete voicemails.
- Lines tab:
- Here you can view all of your lines.
- SMSÂ tab:
- This is where you can view all of your SMS messages.
- Compose icon :
- You can compose a message.
How to view upcoming meetings with Android
You can now open Meetings and view your Personal Meeting room information as well as the schedule of other meetings that are upcoming.
We will keep a list of upcoming meetings by date, and at the bottom will be a list of recurring appointments without a fixed time.
The Refresh icon can be found in the top-right corner of the screen if you do not see a scheduled meeting.
The default Zoom feature will only display meetings that are scheduled and any meetings that you have been invited to will not be displayed. To enable Zoom to display meetings you have been invited to or other meetings that are not Zoom-related, you will need to integrate your calendar with Zoom.
On Android, how can you view your contacts?
You can add new contacts by tapping Contacts.
- Contacts tab:
- You will be able to interact with the contacts by tapping them. This will allow you to start a one-on-one conversation with them, schedule a meeting or a phone call, and inquire about the contact‘s status and other information.
- Channels tab:
- Provides a directory of all your group messaging channels in one place. In the list of channels, starred channels are shown at the top.
- Apps tab:
- View the list of connected apps. This is typically in the form of automated chatbots that you can communicate with.
- Plus icon :
- Gives options for contact channels and contacts. A contact can be added, a contact group can be created, a channel can be created, a channel can be joined, or an app can be added from the Marketplace.
What are the methods of accessing the settings on an Android device?
View the settings for meetings and chat by tapping Settings.
- Lastly, you can tap one of the pictures in the profile area to change the photo, the username, and the password of your account.
- Meeting: The meeting settings, such as whether your microphone will be enabled or disabled, or whether your video will be mirrored, can all be changed.
- Contacts: You can find contacts using Zoom via their phone numbers or send them a request to be included in a meeting.
- Chat: You have the ability to change chat settings, such as notifications, order of unread messages, and other things.
- Phone (only visible if you have Zoom Phone):
- Manage call queues, shared lines groups, and other settings related to Zoom Phone.
- General: Among other things, you are able to customize your ringtone.
- About Zoom: Get the newest version of the app, send feedback, report a problem, view our Privacy policies, or rate the app.
