How to Launch Zoom from a web browser

Overview

If you are joining or hosting a meeting using Google Chrome , Mozilla Firefox , or Apple Safari , you will see a dialog box to launch the Zoom application.

In Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, you can always choose to open the link in Zoom. This feature is not currently supported in Safari.

Zoom Launcher plugin issues

The plugin may not be activated, disabled, installed incorrectly, or installed correctly but may fail to run. There are several ways to fix it. Check if the Zoom Launcher Plugin is enabled (if it is disabled, re-enable it).

Google Chrome

  1. In the address bar, type chrome: // extensions /  .
  2. Make sure that the “zoom.us launcher plugin is enabled and always allowed where it is listed ” .
  3. Check out the Chrome plugin for more information.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. In the address bar,  enter https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ .
  2. Click Click Tools menu Add-ons Plugins.
  3. The ” Zoom Launcher” is always active.

Safari

Safari no longer supports most plugins . You have to choose to launch Zoom every time.

Internet Explorer

  1. Internet Explorer does not have a Zoom plugin.
  2. zoom_launcher.exe will be executed automatically.

If it is enabled but you want to continue the download every time, here are the steps you can take to fix this:

  • Go to Task Manager and close any instances of Firefox / Chrome (Shadow).
  • Restart firefox / chrome and remove the zoom launcher plugin.
  • Click Host Meeting from your browser ( zoom.us ) and you will need to reload the plugin
