Converting a Poly phone to a Zoom Phone Appliance
Poly CCX series phone users can use their assigned phones as Zoom Phone Appliances by converting the phones to Zoom Phone Appliances.
The conversion process for Poly CCX desk phones differs based on their current status and usage. Please refer to the following section for more information.
Note: Use the simplified process to convert an existing Poly CCX 600/700 to a Zoom Phone Appliance if it’s already provisioned in Zoom Phone.

Prerequisites
- Ownership or administrative privileges on an account
- Poly Zoom Phone Appliances that are supported
- After version 5.6.6, Zoom Phone Appliance is available.
Converting a new phone (never powered up or registered)
- Visit Zoom’s web portal and sign in.
- Click Device Management from the navigation menu, then click Device List from the Device Management menu.
- In the top-right corner, click the ellipses (…) button, and then click on Add Zoom Phone Appliance in the pop-up window that appears.

The firmware of the device will be updated. You may need to reboot multiple times during this process. Continue once the update has been completed and reboots have stopped. - Go through the startup menu after powering up the device:
- Set and confirm the new admin password
- Accept the EULA
- Choose Language
- Select the time zone
- Select the Base Profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- The Zoom Phone Appliance will automatically sign you in after the phone reboots, if you haven’t already done so.
Converting a phone that was used with another service provider
The following steps will guide you through the process of converting your phone from another service provider to Zoom Phone Appliance.
- Zoom’s web portal can be accessed by logging in.
- You can access the Device List by clicking Device Management in the navigation menu.
- You can then click Add Zoom Phone Appliance by clicking the ellipsis (…) in the top-right corner.
- The Zoom Phone Appliance can be added by following the steps below.
- Go to Settings > Advanced > Administrator Settings > Reset to Defaults > Reset to Factory to factory reset the phone.
A firmware update will be performed on the device. Multiple reboots may be required during this process. Before continuing, wait for the update to complete and reboots to stop. - Go through the startup menu after powering up the device:
- Set and confirm the new admin password
- Accept the EULA
- Choose Language
- Select the time zone
- Select the Base Profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- Sign into the Zoom Phone Appliance after the phone reboots if you haven’t already.
Converting a phone that was used with Microsoft Teams
The phone can be converted to a Zoom Phone Appliance if it is currently used with Microsoft Teams.
- Microsoft Teams should be configured without the phone configuration.
- Zoom’s web portal can be accessed by logging in.
- Select Device Management from the navigation menu and then select Device List.
- You can then add a Zoom Phone Appliance by clicking the ellipses (…) in the top-right corner.
- Add a Zoom Phone Appliance by following the steps below.
- You can factory reset your phone by going to Settings > Advanced > Administrator Settings > Reset to Defaults > Reset to Factory.
A firmware update will be performed on the device. Multiple reboots may be required during this process. Before continuing, wait for the update to complete and reboots to stop. - Power up the device and go through the startup menu:
- Set and confirm the new admin password
- Accept the EULA
- Choose Language
- Select the time zone
- Select the Base Profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- Sign in to the Zoom Phone Appliance after the phone reboots, if you have not already done so.
Converting a phone already in use with Zoom Phone
Please follow these steps if you want to convert an existing phone into a Zoom Phone Appliance. If the phone is currently in use and assigned to a user or common area phone, follow these steps.
- To access the Zoom web portal, you will need to sign in.
- Click Phone System Management in the navigation menu, and then click Phones & Devices on the left side of the screen.
- Copy the MAC Address and IP Address of the phone that you are converting by clicking on the display name of the phone you are converting.
- The phone can be removed from Zoom Phone by clicking the Remove button.
If you do this, your phone service will be interrupted. - Click Device Management from the navigation menu and then click Device List from the Device Management menu.
- To add Zoom Phone Appliances to the list, click on the ellipses button (…) located in the upper-right corner of the window.
- Adding a Zoom Phone Appliance is as simple as following the steps below.
- By going to Settings > Advanced > Administrator Settings > Reset to Defaults > Reset to Factory Settings, you are able to factory reset your phone.
There will be an update to the device’s firmware. It may take 10 minutes and several reboots to complete this process. Continue once the update has completed and reboots have ceased. - Go through the startup menu after powering up the device:
- Set and confirm the new admin password
- Accept the EULA
- Choose Language
- Select the time zone
- Select the Base Profile as Zoom Phone
- Click Yes to continue
- Sign in to the Zoom Phone Appliance after the phone reboots, if you haven’t already.
Converting back to Zoom SIP mode
Follow these steps if you wish to convert your phone back to SIP mode registered to Zoom Phone if it is currently in Zoom Phone Appliance mode.
- Log into the Zoom web portal by entering your username and password.
- The device list can be accessed by clicking Device Management in the navigation menu.
- In the right-side column, click the ellipsis (…), then Remove from Zoom.
Note: - Zoom Phone Appliances are not forced to logout if the user is logged in when they are removed from Device Management.
- Provision the phone for Zoom Phone by following the steps below.
- Ensure that the device is logged out.
- The setting gear icon can be found by tapping on the screen of the phone.
- Then tap Advanced, followed by General, then System Settings.
- Password for local admin must be entered.
- Reset to factory defaults by tapping Administration Settings, then Reset to Defaults by tapping Reset to Factory.
Note: - Multiple reboots may take up to 10 minutes for the firmware to update. Ensure that reboots have stopped before continuing once updates have been completed.
As soon as the phone reboots, the user will be assigned to it.
