Frequently Asked Questions
Can you have 2 co-hosts on Zoom?
There must be a co-host assigned by the host. A webinar or meeting can have as many co-hosts as you like, as there is no limit on the number.
Can I add a co-host to a zoom meeting before it starts?
Meetings scheduled by a co-host cannot be started by a co-host until the host initiates them. There can be no prior assignment of co-hosts for a meeting. To become a co-host, a participant must be promoted by the host. If the host would like, an alternative host can be assigned by the host.
How do I add a co-host to zoom meeting already scheduled?
An alternative host can be designated in the following way:
- The Zoom Mobile App can be accessed by signing in with your Zoom account.
- Select the Schedule option from the drop-down menu.
- Make sure that you tap the Advanced Options option.
- You can find alternative hosts by tapping the Alternative Hosts button.
- The alternative hosts that you would like to add to the server can either be added from the list provided or they can be added by entering the email addresses of the users you want to add to the server.
Why can’t I add alternative host on Zoom?
Alternative hosts must be licensed Zoom users in order to be eligible to host. There are a few restrictions to keep in mind: it is necessary for the alternative hosts to also be members of the same Zoom account as the host for them to host, otherwise they will not be allowed to host. Therefore, if you wish to designate a different institution as a substitute host, you would not be able to do so.
How many Zoom hosts can you have?
A single host is the only one that can exist at any given time. A co-host can be assigned participation or their permissions can be removed (available only to the host): You may assign participation to an existing co-host or remove their permissions from them. There is no limit to how many co-hosts you can have. This feature allows you to change the name of a participant so that other participants will know who you are.
