SIP/H.323 device call-out from Zoom Rooms

You can make calls directly to a SIP/H.323 device using Zoom Rooms via SIP/H.323. Also, in the Zoom Room controller there is an option to add SIP/H.323 devices that will be added to the contacts list when they are added in the Zoom website portal. Unlike other video conferencing solutions, Zoom Rooms allows users to call-out at the same time to one SIP/H.323 device at a time. A license will be needed for each SIP/H.323 device in the meeting, in order for the account to be able to run meetings with multiple SIP/H.323 devices.

Prerequisites for SIP/H.323 device call-out from Zoom Rooms

There is only one device that can be called out, there is no addition of the Room Connector:

  • It is recommended that you use Zoom Rooms for Windows version 5.1.0 or later
  • The latest version of Zoom Rooms for Mac is 5.1.0 or higher
  • In order to use Zoom Rooms Controller for iOS, you must have version 5.1.0 or higher
  • Android 5.1.0 or higher is required to use Zoom Rooms Controller for Android

Multiple devices can be called out at the same time:

  • In order to use Zoom Rooms on Windows, you need version 5.1.0 or higher
  • It is recommended that you use Zoom Rooms for Mac version 5.1.0 or later
  • In order to use Zoom Rooms Controller for iOS, you need to have version 5.1.0 or later
  • For Android devices running version 5.1.0 of the Zoom Rooms Controller is required
  • In order to use Zoom Rooms Controller for Windows, it is necessary to have version 5.1.0 or higher
  • A subscription to the add-on for the H.323/SIP Room Connector has been purchased

How to call SIP/H.323 devices from Zoom Rooms

It is possible to use a contact list to call a SIP or H.323 device or to use its IP address or E.164 number to call it.

Using the contacts list

Note:

A SIP/H.323 device must be added to the Zoom web portal so that the Zoom Room controller can have the SIP/H.323 device listed in the contacts section. Room Connector is an add-on that is required to use the product.

  1. Tap the Contacts button on the Zoom Rooms Controller to view your contacts
  2. To find the SIP/H.323 device you wish to call, use the search box on the screen, then tap on the entry for the device you would like to call.
  3. In the Meetings section, you can include SIP/H.323 devices that you have selected to start a meeting with.
  4. As a result, if you need to enter digits during the call-out to the participants, a SIP/H.323 device will be selected. Tap on the device name, and then tap Show Keyboard if you need to enter digits (e.g. meeting ID).
  5. It is possible to enter numbers using the keypad on the device.

Using the device’s IP address or E.164 number

  1. On the left-hand side of the screen, tap on Home.
  2. You will need to tap the arrow next to New Meeting to create a new meeting.
  3. To make a call through SIP/H.323, tap the Call SIP/H.323 button.
  4. Using your IP address or E.164 number, you can tap on H.323 or SIP, and then tap on Call to make a call.
  5. When you are in the call-out process, you will need to enter digits during the call-out process, for example the meeting ID.
  6. By using the keypad, you will be able to enter numbers into the system.

How to call a SIP/H.323 device while in a Zoom Rooms meeting

In order to make a call to a SIP/H.323 device, you can use your contact list, the IP address of the device or the E.164 number.

Using the contacts list

 

Note:  To appear in the Zoom Room controller contacts list on the Zoom web portal, the SIP/H.323 device must be added in the Zoom web portal.

  1. As you are in a meeting, tap the Manage Participants button, followed by the Invite button.
  2. Select the Contacts tab from the menu.
  3. In the search box, type in the SIP/H.323 device you are looking for, then tap the entry that corresponds to the device you wish to call.
  4. You can invite people by tapping the Invite button.
  5. In order to use the keypad during the callout, click Manage Participants and then select the name of the SIP/H.323 device, then select Show Keypad if you are required to enter digits (e.g. meeting ID).
  6. With the help of the keypad, you can enter numbers.

Using the device’s IP address or E.164 number

  1. When you are in a meeting, select Manage Participants and then click Invite.
  2. Click on the tab that says SIP/H.323.
  3. The IP address needs to be entered, then a selection needs to be made between SIP and H.323.
  4. You can tap on the keyboard if you need to enter any digits during the call-out phase (for example, the meeting ID).
  5. By using the keypad, you will be able to enter numbers.
